Dean Huijsen sends message to fans after loss Bournemouth didn’t ‘deserve’

Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen has sent a message on social media to fans after the loss to Liverpool.

The Cherries had their 11 game unbeaten streak in the Premier League ended by Liverpool on Saturday (1 February), as they lost 2-0.

Bournemouth came into the match riding high, having beaten title-challengers Nottingham Forest 5-0 in their last game (25 January).

A penalty on the half-hour mark from Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead, after a soft Lewis Cook foul on Cody Gakpo was given by referee Darren England.

The Cherries thought they had an equaliser only eight minutes later, from David Brooks, but his effort was ruled out by VAR.

Salah would double his, and Liverpool’s tally, in the 75th minute, scoring a beautiful curling effort to give the Merseyside team all three points.

Despite the disappointing result, Bournemouth have firmly established themselves as one of the Premier League’s top sides this season.

The South Coast side sit seventh on 40 points, only one behind Man City who are fourth in the table.

Huijsen has been a major part of the Cherries’ success this season, and has been linked with a big-money move to Chelsea.

The Dutch centre-back posted on his Instagram after the game, saying: “Maybe not the result we deserved, but we keep on working hard.”

The Cherries will be hoping to bounce back from the disappointing result against Liverpool, when they take on Southampton on 15 February in their next Premier League game.
