Dean Huijsen sends ‘strange’ Bournemouth message after Milos Kerkez ‘fight’
Dean Huijsen missed his penalty against Wolves, but Bournemouth still managed to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
Bournemouth triumphed over Wolves to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup In a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw following extra time.
Huijsen had a moment of frustration when a malfunction in the semi-automated offside system denied him a goal after Evanilson had put Bournemouth 1-0 up, a decision that took eight minutes to resolve.
Wolves equalised with a stunning outside-of-the-box strike from Matheus Cunha but made headlines for more than just their performance.
The Brazilian forward was sent off after headbutting Milos Kerkez, leading to a red card. Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett suggested Cunha would face a fine and suspension and could even be required to attend a behavioural course following the incident.
Following the clash with Cunha, Huijsen sent a message to Kerkez on social media and later posted another message thanking the fans after the hard-fought win.

Justin Kluivert reacts to Dean Huijsen’s message to Bournemouth fans
Following the victory, Huijsen shared his thoughts on Instagram, posting a picture with the caption: “A strange match but we achieved our goal…we are in the quarter-finals!” He went on to thank his teammates and the fans, saying, “Thanks to my teammates and all of you fans for the support, I feel it a lot.”
His post received support from several teammates, including Daniel Jebbisson, Luis Sinisterra and Justin Kluivert, who liked the message in solidarity.
Although Huijsen’s performance against Wolves was less than impressive, especially with his missed penalty in the shootout, Kepa Arrizabalaga was instrumental in saving Bournemouth as they advanced to the next round.

Bournemouth await Premier League bidding war for Dean Huijsen
Despite his showing in the penalty shootout, Huijsen’s overall impact at Bournemouth has been undeniable. Since his arrival from Juventus last summer, the Spanish defender has been a key figure for manager Andoni Iraola.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of top Premier League clubs. Manchester United fans are urging their club to sign Huijsen, and to activate the £50 million release clause in his contract.
However, Football Insider have revealed that Liverpool are preparing to step up their interest in Huijsen, especially given Virgil van Dijk’s uncertain contract situation.
Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, the defender has remained focused, continuing to perform at a high level for the side. The focus now shifts to their upcoming away fixture against Tottenham on 9 March, where the Spaniard will look to contribute to his team’s efforts once again.
