Dean Huijsen to Liverpool: O’Rourke updates after Van Dijk exit latest
Liverpool and other top Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Huijsen “ticks a lot of boxes” for Liverpool after his arrival in the Premier League with Bournemouth last summer (2024).
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (16 February) that the Reds are set to accelerate their plans to sign a new centre-back even if Virgil van Dijk remains at Anfield.
The Spain Under-21 international has a release clause worth around £55million in his contract with the Cherries, which runs until June 2030.

Liverpool and other elite Premier League sides will be ready to meet that figure if Huijsen continues his rise to prominence on the south coast.
The player will then have a decision to make on a potential move away from Andoni Iraola’s side.
Huijsen has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Bournemouth this term, scoring twice.
He has started in 17 of those outings and has played 90 minutes in the last 12 Premier League fixtures.
The Amsterdam-born defender is a six-cap Spain Under-21 international having previously represented the Netherlands at youth level.
Liverpool to offer big name in Isak part-exchange bid
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (18 February) that Liverpool will try to tempt Newcastle by offering striker Darwin Nunez in part-exchange for Alexander Isak this summer.
Isak, 25, is seen as “perfect” and is the “number one centre-forward target” for Slot and the club’s recruitment team.
Newcastle want well in excess of £100million for Isak but sources say Liverpool will look to sweeten the deal by offering Nunez – who is valued at around £60million by the Reds.
