Declan Rice: Real Madrid backed to bid for West Ham ace as agreement reported – La Liga expert

Real Madrid could launch a move to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice next summer, according to Kevin Campbell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker and La Liga TV pundit claimed Europe’s top clubs will be in for the 23-year-old.

As reported by talkSPORT (11 July), West Ham and Rice have a gentleman’s agreement that he will spend one more season with the club before being allowed to leave.

West Ham

Several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, have been linked with a move for the England international.

However, Campbell thinks West Ham could receive offers from overseas as well.

Asked who he thought would be in for Rice, Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Manchester United. You could look at Chelsea, I’d like to think Arsenal.

“Even abroad, if I’m honest with you. The likes of Real Madrid, they’ve got an ageing midfield who have been fantastic. They’ve started to bring in some youngsters. You’re looking at Casemiro in there, Modric and Kroos.

“Obviously, Ancelotti knows of Declan Rice, he’s seen him play. To have him in there would be brilliant.

“I just think Declan Rice, he’s had such a fantastic season, it won’t just be Premier League clubs looking at him. The biggest clubs in Europe will be looking at him, that’s for sure.”

West Ham

Rice’s contract at West Ham runs until the summer of 2024, although the Irons have the option to extend that by a year.

He has played a total of 192 times for the east Londoners to date.
