Dejan Kulusevski: Expert hails ‘brilliant’ thing new Tottenham star kept doing against Brighton

John Wenham was delighted with what he spotted Dejan Kulusevski doing during his Tottenham debut.

Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, claims the attacker should have had an assist.

Tottenham announced the signing of Kulusevski, 21, on Monday (31 January).

The attacker has joined on an 18-month loan deal with Spurs holding the option to buy him in the summer of 2023.

He made his debut off the bench as Tottenham beat Brighton 3-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday (5 February).

Wenham was impressed with what he saw and admitted he is glad there has been no settling in period for the player.

“He should have had an assist,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He laid a brilliant ball off for Steven Bergwijn who couldn’t convert, so that’s a shame for him.

“I spotted he kept getting on the ball and that was brilliant too.

“There was one moment where he cut in and let fly on his weaker side, forcing a good save from the keeper.

“Obviously it was only his first appearance but there was a lot to like, for me.

“I was generally pleased he managed to get on the pitch. It looks like he is ready to go straight away which is good because all of our games are massive now.”
