Dejphon Chansiri has missed more deadlines for Sheffield Wednesday payments as administration looms
Dejphon Chansiri has placed Sheffield Wednesday in further trouble as the problematic owner has failed to make payments once again.
Sheffield Wednesday had been placed under two EFL embargoes recently, with Chansiri facing increasing scrutiny for his role in the club’s financial woes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, finance expert Dan Plumley urged Chansiri to take up offers that are on the table and sell Sheffield Wednesday.
Meanwhile, finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that the government’s new football regulator had the powers to remove problematic owners, something we’re yet to see in Chansiri’s case.

Dejphon Chansiri has missed more Sheffield Wednesday payments
The embargoes that Wednesday were placed under came following the EFL’s ruling that the club would be unable to fulfil a portion of their financial obligations in the season ahead.
Andy Giddings has now written on X, saying: “Hearing from multiple sources, Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri missed deadlines this week to make some football and non-football payments.”
Sheffield Wednesday are second bottom in the Championship with only four points from their first six league games, sitting only above city rivals Sheffield United.
There was a summer of upheaval at Hillsborough with ex-head coach Danny Rohl leaving his role and being replaced by Henrik Pedersen.
Administration looms for Sheffield Wednesday
Giddings additionally wrote: “There are growing fears that unless things change then not all staff will be paid on time again. Sadly it ain’t shocking anymore.”
Those comments come after football finance reporter Kieran Maguire spoke to EFL Analysis, saying: “They have two new appearances under the EFL embargo listing. That’s Chansiri failing to demonstrate that he has the resources to cover the club’s projected losses this season.

“If he can’t do that, then he can’t pay this £7.4m loan. The only alternative scenario is if he is saying he is going to pay the loan and he isn’t going to have enough left over to pay players and staff. Administration is looking increasingly high-risk…
“There are some reservations there because Chansiri himself could end up as kingmaker at Sheffield Wednesday because he sold the stadium to a technically separate entity.
“So we could therefore have a position similar to that which we saw at Derby County where the former owner put the club into administration, kept control of the stadium and was therefore able to play the part of Caesar and give the thumbs-up or thumbs-down to interested parties as far as a takeover is concerned. That is my concern,” Maguire finished.
Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been put through hell in recent months and there appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel just yet.
