Dele Alli: Everton star’s future already in doubt after ‘concerning’ Lampard decision – pundit

Kevin Phillips has admitted Dele Alli’s Everton future is already in doubt after a lack of game time under Frank Lampard.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old needs to get back to playing regularly to rediscover his form.

Alli has not started for Everton since his free transfer from Tottenham in January.

He was left on the bench for the Toffees’ last league match and was cup-tied for the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Phillips admitted things have not gone as planned for Dele Alli or Everton.

As such, he suggested the playmaker’s future is by no means certain at Goodison Park.

Phillips told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “We all thought that when he went to Everton, it was the fresh challenge he needed. Get away from Tottenham and start again.

“It just hasn’t quite worked for whatever reason. To not be starting games, when clearly Everton need to win, is a slight concern.

“They need be winning football matches to get their confidence back and try put a run together to stay in the Premier League.

“You just hope that he doesn’t find himself in that same scenario as he was at Tottenham. I’m not sure where his future lies. It’s a shame.

“It’s down to the individual. When he does get a chance at Everton, he’s got to take it. Give everything he’s got and show the qualities he has shown over the past couple of years.

“He’s got to find consistency, in my view. To do that, you’ve got to play regularly.”

Alli has played 169 minutes from a possible 630 since arriving at Everton.

The Toffees have won just once when the attacking midfielder has featured.
