Dele Alli: I have finally got something on this Tottenham player

By Amir Mir

Dele Alli has stated that he has “finally got something” on Harry Kane after his penalty miss for Tottenham during the 4-1 win at Southampton on Wednesday.

Striker Kane fired his spot-kick over the bar during the Premier League victory at St Mary’s, but he did get on the scoresheet on the night.

Midfielder Alli was the star of the show with his brace sealing a third consecutive victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with Son Heung-Min scoring the other goal.

Despite the comfortable victory for the away side, Alli could not help but mock his teammate for his terrible spot-kick.

“I’ve heard Harry talk a lot about American Football so if there were any coaches watching that one I’m sure they’ll be looking at him for a kicker,” Alli told the club’s official website. “Look, he’s a fantastic striker, he puts them away all the time in training and in the other games so you always back him to put them away and when he doesn’t it’s a surprise and that just shows the player he is.

“You never expect him to miss. Finally, I’ve got something on him!”

Despite his penalty miss, Kane has been in fine form for the north London club this season, scoring ten goals in 16 Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

The England international missed five league games through injury, but he has scored six goals in eight game since his return in November.

By contrast, Alli has netted seven goals and supplied four assists in 23 matches in all competitions, including scoring six goals in 17 league games.

The duo will be hoping to take to the field against Watford on New Year’s day, where Spurs will be looking to record their fourth win on the bounce.

They are one point behind north London rivals Arsenal in the table and could overtake them, if Arsene Wenger’s side drop points against Cyrstal Palace on the same day and Spurs win.
