‘Delete this’, ‘Guys, please remove’ – Fans mock Jamie Carragher after Man United dig backfires
Fans have mocked Jamie Carragher for speaking too soon after this dig at Man United.
The Sky Sports pundit posted on X that Liverpool’s 0-0 draw at Anfield against the Red Devils earlier this month (17 December) is their “worst result of the season”.
He shared the bold claim while Erik ten Hag’s side were losing 2-0 to Aston Villa at Old Trafford in what looked to be their fourth defeat in their last five games in all competitions.
However, a sensational second-half comeback owing to an Alejandro Garnacho brace and Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League goal of the season secured them all three points with a 3-2 victory.
Man United had been in woeful form of late including a 2-0 loss to West Ham, their 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a 3-0 home loss against Bournemouth.
Ahead of their clash against United, Liverpool had won all 11 of their home games in all competitions this season and expected to extend this further and take three points from their out-of-form rivals.
However, the Reds’ lack of cutting edge in the final third and a strong defensive display from United meant the spoils were shared.
But, following United’s excellent comeback against the Villans, Carragher’s verdict has been widely ridiculed.
Fans have taken to social media to let the former Reds captain know that he jumped the gun.
