Derby County plotting to sign ex-Celtic sensation Dembele – sources
Derby County are eyeing a move to sign former Celtic starlet Karamoko Dembele this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Dembele, 21, dazzled for Blackpool last season during his loan spell from Ligue 1 outfit Brest, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists.
His performances in League One earned him Blackpool’s Players’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards.
As a result, sources say Derby will explore a loan or permanent deal to sign the attacking midfielder, as they look to strengthen their attacking options following promotion to the Championship.
Derby County want to sign Karamoko Dembele from Brest
Dembele featured as both an attacking midfielder and a right winger during his spell at Bloomfield Road and is seen as an exciting option to provide creativity going forward.
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene as a young teenager after he made his debut for Celtic’s Under-20s side as a 13-year-old in 2016, gaining plenty of media attention.
He made his senior debut in 2019, but went on to make just ten appearances in Scotland before leaving Celtic in 2022, joining Brest on a free transfer, before moving to Blackpool on loan one year later.
His spell in England has reignited the spark and interest in his career, with 47 appearances making up the bulk of his career to date – having previously played just 28 senior games.
However, after his impressive performances in League One, sources say Derby are ready to take a punt on him following their promotion.

The Rams are looking to do business early in the summer window, with Football Insider also revealing their interest in Charlton Athletic gem Thierry Small.
Paul Warne is now looking to Dembele in a bid to strengthen his squad to increase their chances of survival in the Championship next season.
In other news, Man United have been tipped to complete four new signings.
