Derby vs Swansea postponement latest as Met Office issue new warnings across England
Derby County’s clash with Swansea City on Saturday is at risk of postponement after new weather warnings were issued across the country.
Several FA Cup and Championship games are at risk over the next few days, as extreme weather conditions threaten disruption.
The UK is expected to face icy conditions and heavy rain – a nightmare combination for football pitches throughout the country.
Derby lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town on Saturday, and will come into this game hoping to bounce back at Pride Park.
However, their opponents are in strong form too. Swansea beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 on Sunday, and both teams will be hoping the game goes ahead.
Met Office issues new weather warnings
Should Swansea beat Derby at Pride Park, they may well leapfrog their hosts in the Championship table.
The Swans have won three of their last games, and are aided by the league’s top scorer in Zan Vipotnik.
| Zan Vipotnik | Championship 2025-26 |
| Appearances | 29 |
| Goals | 15 |
| Assists | 2 |

The Slovenian scored a brace against Sheffield Wednesday last week, and has netted 15 goals in 29 Championship appearances this season.
In Patrick Agyemang, Derby have a goal-scorer of their own, however, with the American netting nine times in the league so far this season.
Top goal-scorer Carlton Morris scored 10 goals in just 16 appearances before sustaining an ankle injury in November, but he could be set to return against Swansea on Saturday.

That is, if the game goes ahead at all, however, with the Met Office issuing new weather alerts for much of England.
Derby falls inside a warning zone for both ice and snow, with officials set to keep a close eye on the progress of conditions at Pride Park.
Derby County has had snow problems in past
When Swansea’s fierce rivals Cardiff City visited Pride Park in 2018, the game was called off in the hours before kick-off due to snow.
Officials had deemed that areas surrounding the stadium were unsafe after heavy snowfall had resulted in icy roads and paths.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock called the decision a “disgrace” after he had arrived at Pride Park and surveyed the conditions himself.
“We got to the ground and the car park was clear, the pitch was perfect. Absolutely disgraceful really,” he said.
Both teams will hope to avoid the same trouble on Saturday, but the weather will have the ultimate say.
