Dermot Desmond is far from a popular figure at Celtic, and his greed could be about to cost the club once again.

Maik Nawrocki is almost a forgotten player at Parkhead after failing to break into the first team since his move in 2023.

As a result, the 25-year-old was loaned out to 2 Bundesliga outfit Hanover 96 this season, where he established himself as a first-teamer.

Despite being unable to guide the club to promotion, the Daily Record has reported that the German outfit is keen on making his stay a permanent one.

However, the £3million asking price could be a stumbling block, and could end up costing Celtic the sale.

Hanover unwilling to meet Celtic’s asking price for Maik Nawrocki

The report suggests that there is an appetite in both parties to complete a deal for Nawrocki this summer.

Celtic clearly see no future in the first-team for Nawrocki, whereas he featured 17 times in the league for Hanover this season as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

Nevertheless, the Hoops want £3m for Nawrocki, a price that Hanover are currently unwilling to meet.

Now, Desmond’s greed could end up costing the Hoops yet again, especially if the German side end up walking away from the negotiating table.

Nawrocki only has two years left on his contract, meaning that his value is already plummeting.

This, combined with the fact that he is not in Celtic’s first-team picture, makes the £3m asking price steep.

Desmond has to simply lower this, or the Hoops could be stuck with Nawrocki at Parkhead once again.
