'Deserves more game time' - Celtic fans react to frozen-out star's display in win v Dundee

By James Black

Celtic won 1-0 against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership to keep their place at the top of the table – and fan raved about the display over rarely-seen Christian Gamboa.

Olivier Ntcham’s second-half goal seperated the sides as Celtic went 59 domestic games without defeat.

Costa Rican defender Gamboa was one of seven changes to the side which drew 2-2 with Hibs before the international break – and Hoops fans were delighted.

The 27-year-old had been frozen-out of Brendan Rodgers’ side since choosing to play for his country at the Gold Cup over the summer.

The right-back put in a solid performance and impressed fans who will no doubt feel vindicated in their calls to see the defender return to the side.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Gamboa made 21 appearances for Celtic last season after joining the Scottish champions from West Brom.

Fans will be hoping Rodgers uses Gamboa more often if he can sustain the level of performance that saw them rave about him on social media.

It’s unlikey Gamboa will be involved against Bayern Munich in midweek but the Scottish League Cup semi-final may provide another opportunity for the defender to prove himself to Brendan Rodgers.

In other Celtic transfer news, the club are joint favourites to sign a left-footed midfield creator who has demolished the Hoops in the past.
