Celtic’s pursuit of Odsonne Edouard has taken a bit of an unexpected twist.
The Scottish Sun is reporting that an ‘unknown foreign club’ are interested in buying the 20-year-old, who was a huge success for the Hoops on-loan from PSG.
Before Hoops fans get themselves into a panic, it should be pointed out that the Bhoys still have plenty of time to get the deal done that will keep Edouard in Glasgow on a permanent basis.
The Daily Mail have reported that the Hoops have until June 16th to take up their option to sign the 11 goal striker on a permanent deal, which is plenty of time.
All indications are that the player would like to stay in Glasgow, and Brendan Rodgers would like to keep the player at the club on a permanent deal, so Hoops fans don’t need to worry about any reports linking the player with other clubs.
Perhaps if the deal is not concluded by the 15th of June then it is time to worry, but Rodgers and the Hoops board will have the matter in hand.
Edouard knows that he will get plenty of game time in Glasgow, which might not be the case with the ‘mystery’ club, and there is no real reason why the deal won’t be completed – unless Celtic are trying to force the price down.
Relatively soon the player should be paraded at Celtic Park as a Hoops player, and all the talk of other clubs interest can be forgotten about – until next summer anyway.
