‘Destroyed’, ‘Dreadful’ – West Ham fans slaughter James Ward-Prowse as new footage emerges from 2-2 draw v Sheffield United

West Ham United fans have slaughtered James Ward-Prowse for his “woeful” involvement in Sheffield United’s equalising goal on Sunday afternoon (21 January).

The Hammers let their win slip in the closing moments of the game after Oliver McBurnie converted a 103rd-minute penalty to end the game 2-2 at Bramall Lane, but Ward-Prowse’s mistake for the Blades’ first equaliser had fans fuming.

The latest TNT Sports footage showed Sheffield’s January signing Ben Brereton Diaz latch onto Alphonse Areola’s rebounded save inside the box to bag his first goal in the Premier League.

However, Ward-Prowse failed to notice the Chile international darting towards the ball behind him before he netted, with some fans accusing the midfielder of ball-watching and not being attentive to his surroundings.

The 29-year-old was far too late to react and his mistake ended up being pivotal in David Moyes’ side dropping points and Chris Wilder’s struggling side securing a vital point in their fight against relegation.

They have taken to social media to hound him out for the “nightmare” mistake.
