Diaz and Konate react to Liverpool star Gravenberch as rivals join in

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has garnered reactions from a number of his teammates following his latest update on social media.

The midfielder enjoyed an excellent season at Anfield as his fellow Dutchman Arne Slot took charge of the club for the first time, helping them to lift the Premier League title.

Indeed, Gravenberch’s performances for Liverpool even earned him the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award for the 2024/25 campaign.

Even with the season coming to an end for the Reds, the 23-year-old has still been making an impact on the pitch recently.

Ryan Gravenberch reflects on Netherlands outings

Following the end of the club campaign, many players have been in action for their national sides at the start of June, and Gravenberch is one of those.

The Liverpool star featured in both of the Netherlands’ games as they began their World Cup qualifying campaign.

He played the full 90 minutes of a 2-0 win over Finland at the weekend, before playing the first half of an 8-0 thrashing of Malta on Tuesday (10 June).

That means the Dutch are second in their World Cup qualifying group, just a point behind leaders Finland, but with two games in hand.

Posting on Instagram to give his thoughts on those results, Gravenberch simply wrote: “Positive days” along with a tag for his national team.

In response, a number of his Liverpool teammates showed their support, with the likes of Konate, Diaz, Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister all liking the post.

Several other Premier League based Dutch players such as Aston Villa’s Ian Maatsen, Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert, Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen and Newcastle’s Sven Botman also did the same.

Football Insider Verdict

Despite the success his side enjoyed over the course of the campaign, the season did end on something of a sour note for the Dutchman.

Gravenberch was sent off for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on the final day of the campaign, as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield before the Premier League trophy lift.

He will therefore have been pleased to largely put that behind him by getting back into action with some strong results for his national side.

Although they will play the Community Shield first, Gravenberch will be banned for Liverpool for their first Premier League game of the season.

His ability means he will be missed in that game, but over the course of such a long campaign, he will no doubt be able to make up for that.
