Didier Drogba shares brilliant Celtic anecdote about John Terry

Didier Drogba has revealed that he only realised who John Terry was prior to their pre-season friendly match against Celtic in 2004.

Chelsea announced on Monday afternoon that former England international Terry will leave the club at the end of the season after 22 years of service.

The news of his departure has resulted in a number of ex-players, including Drogba, paying tribute to the former centre-back, who won 14 major trophies at the London outfit.

Former Premier League striker Drogba joined Chelsea in 2004 when Terry was already an established first team defender.

After the news of Terry’s departure broke, Drogba shared this brilliant Celtic anecdote regarding his former teammate.

“When I first met you and I didn’t know who you were,” Drogba wrote on his personal Instagram account. “I thought you were a young player from the academy going on a pre-season tour. Then I realised who you were from first speech right before our first friendly against Celtic.”

Despite his age of 36, there will be many teams looking to secure the signature of Terry’s in the summer.

He has vasts amounts of experience in England’s top flight added with his success with the Blues on the European stage.

Terry lifted the Champions League in 2012 when his side beat Bayern Munich on penalties, with Drogba scoring the winning spot kick.

However, before he leaves Stamford Bridge, he has the chance to add to his four Premier League titles and five FA Cups.

Antonio Conte’s side currently lead second-placed Tottenham by four points with six matches of the season remaining.

They will also play their London rivals in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon at Wembley.
