Green has proved his worth to Steve Bruce throughout the opening games of the season and managed to secure his first goal for the senior squad during the club’s only Championship win which was against Norwich City back in August.
The winger’s absence was noted during yet another goalless draw against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, which also saw Henri Lansbury given a straight red card during the second half of the game.
Green looks likely to be out for a number of months and will be sorely missed as the club look ahead to their showdown against Burnley on Saturday.
