Ian Taylor has revealed that it’s ‘difficult’ to get the best out of Keinan Davis ahead of Aston Villa clash with Leeds United, due to the player’s age.
In his column for the Daily Express, the ex-Villan revealed that his former side face a “difficult” game against Leeds on Friday and they need the 19-year-old striker to perform.
“I think with Keinan, he’s set a standard now and he’s got to try and hit those heights every week but that’s always going to be difficult when you’re a young player,” Taylor stated.
“We’ve got to try,” he continued, “especially with the injuries we’ve got to get the best out of him, which is going to be difficult because he’s such a young player still.”
The 19-year-old is expected to start the game against Whites as first choice striker Jonathan Kodjia is ruled out due to injury, potentially for the season.
The striker has scored scored two goals in 16 Championship appearances this season since being promoted from the under-23s squad.
Davis’ form has seen him earn a new contract at Aston Villa, with the player recently agreeing to deal which would see him stay at the club until 2020.
Aston Villa go into Friday’s game at Elland Road higher in the table than Leeds as they are fourth with six more points.
The Villans also go into the game in slightly better form than their opponents having won their last three league games, with the Whites only winning two of their last three.
However, it was Leeds United who got the better in the pair’s league meeting last season, winning 2-0 at Elland Road and drawing 1-1 at Villa Park.
In other Aston Villa news, boss Bruce has heaped praise on this defender after his impressive performances this season.
