'It has been a difficult situation' - Lasogga makes Leeds revelation that fans will love
By Danny Wright
Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has revealed that his girlfriend had their baby daughter the day before the game against Ipswich on Saturday.
Lasogga, 25, has admitted that he has been in a “difficult” situation in the past couple of weeks but is finally relieved to become a dad while not missing any fixtures for the Whites.
The day after his child was born, the German powerhouse scored in the 3-2 win over Ipswich which kept Leeds top of the Championship standings.
He jetted out to Germany after the game and returned on Sunday night to make sure that he is available for Tuesday’s crunch match with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side, who are level on points with the Yorkshire giants at the top of the Championship table.
Fans will no doubt love the commitment that Lasogga has shown to the club after sacrificing being there for the birth of his daughter to play on Saturday.

“It has been a difficult situation for me. My decision was that I play on Saturday and go after the game to see my girlfriend and my baby. I was so proud,” he said in a pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“I cannot say the feeling you have the first time you see the baby. I didn’t go to the birth, it was not an easy decision for me that I stay here – and the flights were not very good – but it was like that and I was happy that following her birth I scored. It was a good time! I was happy that I could score.”
Lasogga has been in fine form since arrived at Elland Road on a loan deal from Hamburg SV on transfer deadline day last month.
He has scored three goals in five appearances, with his goal on Saturday being his first since a debut brace against Burton Albion a couple of weeks ago.
The German is now expected to start up front against Cardiff on Tuesday night.
In other Leeds United news, Thomas Christiansen has ruled this 23-year-old out of the midweek fixture.
