Digne and Buendia react to Aston Villa ace’s ‘proud’ message amid exit talk

Lucas Digne and Emi Buendia have both shown their support for one of their Aston Villa teammates following his latest social media message.

Digne is now entering the final year of his contract with the club, while Buendia spent the second half of this season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.

As a result, there have been speculation around the futures of both players recently, with the summer transfer window now open.

Atletico Madrid are targeting Digne as an alternative to Andy Robertson at Liverpool, with the La Liga side keen to strengthen at left-back.

Meanwhile, Leeds United are considering a move to sign Buendia as they prepare for their return to the Premier League next season.

Despite that uncertainty around their futures, both Digne and Buendia have continued to back their teammates in Unai Emery’s side.

While many players are enjoying a break over the summer, one Aston Villa man who is still in action is Andres Garcia.

The right-back is currently playing with Spain Under-21s at Euro 2025, helping them to reach the quarter finals after topping their group.

Taking to Instagram to react to that early success in the competition, Garcia wrote: “First ones in the group. Proud of this team. Heading to the quarters…”

In response, Digne and Buendia were among those to react to their fellow Aston Villa star by liking that post.

Aston Villa have exit decisions to make

Football Insider Verdict

It has previously been reported that Aston Villa are planning to hold contract talks with Digne this summer, hinting that they are keen to keep him at the club.

Even so, after Unai Emery’s side were controversially beaten by Man United on the final day of the season, they have missed out on qualification for the Champions League.

That means they will not receive what would have been a major financial windfall, which has now put them under pressure when it comes to their PSR situation.

It therefore appears clear that Aston Villa will have to sell certain individuals this summer if they are to avoid punishment in the coming campaign.

Given he was loaned out last season, and that with two years to go on his contract this could be a good time to cash in on, it would not b a huge shock if Buendia does move on in this transfer window.
