Slaven Bilic revealed on Thursday that Dimitri Payet has told West Ham he wants to leave the club despite signing a five year deal in February.
The manager insisted Payet is not for sale but a number of clubs will have been alerted and he could be on his way in January.
Football Insider selects three clubs the attacking midfielder could join if he does end up leaving the London Stadium in january.
Payet was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer and according to Sky Sports, as recently as December, he claimed it “could be fun” to play under Arsene Wenger. The Gunners’ style of play would certainly fit in with Payet’s ability to create chances and they are a top club competing in the Champions League – which is presumably what he is looking for.
The French giants lost their star striker in the summer when Zlatan Ibrahimovic signed for Manchester United so they would be keen to send out a statement by signing Payet. The Frenchman was sensational in the European Championships and he could link up with a number of compatriots in Ligue 1. PSG would offer a serious fee too and Payet would no doubt be given a very tempting salary offer.
The midfielder made a name for himself with the French club before joining the Hammers and his former team are already interested in bringing him back. The Telegraph claim West Ham have already turned down a £20million bid for Payet but The Mirror claim Marseille could be prepared to up to £30million to take him away from the Premier League.
In other West Ham news, fans reacted with anger on Twitter after Gold made this statement about Defoe.
