‘Disaster’ – Liverpool fans rip into ‘abysmal’ player after what he did vs Man City

Liverpool’s Champions League hopes took another blow as Manchester City came from behind to win at Anfield.

Dominik Szoboszlai, who was later sent off, put Liverpool ahead with a stunning free-kick which looked to have handed Arne Slot’s side all three points.

Late goals though from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland turned the game around for Man City to keep Pep Guardiola’s side within six points of league leaders Arsenal.

Arne Slot, who is under pressure at Liverpool, may come under more scrutiny from the fanbase, with the Reds now having won just once in their last seven Premier League games.

Cody Gakpo ‘needs to leave Liverpool’ after Man City display

Liverpool fans have vented their anger at Cody Gakpo following the late defeat to Man City, which leaves Slot’s side five points outside the top four.

Gakpo, whose Liverpool displays have been criticised previously this season, had just 27 touches during the contest.

The 26-year-old did not have a single shot on goal in the match before being replaced by midfielder Curtis Jones in the 85th minute.

Gakpo is Liverpool’s second-highest goalscorer this season with five, but fans wanted more from the Dutchman against Man City.

Supporters want Gakpo and Slot to leave the club, with one fan claiming Liverpool “may as well start every game with 10 men” when the forward starts.

Liverpool targeting two new additions

Whilst Slot may not be at Anfield next season, the club are already making preparations for the summer transfer window.

Liverpool could re-sign centre-back Jarell Quansah, who left the club at the beginning of the season to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

That is due to Ibrahima Konate looking set to leave Liverpool, and the lack of defensive options currently available to Slot.

Liverpool are also targeting a new forward, especially a player who can specialise in one-on-one situations.

A wide player may be required with Mohamed Salah expected to move to Saudi Arabia, with the 33-year-old failing to hit the heights of previous seasons.

Salah has contributed four goals and five assists in 17 Premier League appearances this season, whilst he netted 29 times in their title winning 2024-25 campaign.
