Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to urge Lucas Leiva to sign a new deal after his future at Anfield has been thrown into doubt.
Talking in The Telegraph, Lucas – out of contract in the summer – has revealed he is set for talks with Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, but hinted his 10-year-stint at the club could be coming to an end.
The 30-year-old Brazilian has played a key role in Liverpool’s midfield in recent weeks, despite rumours he was leaving the club in January.
Lucas played 90 minutes in the middle of the park for the Reds last time out as they beat West Brom 1-0 at The Hawthorns.
Lucas has made 341 league and cup appearances in his 10 years with the Reds and has become a real fan favourite at the club – for his performances and for his loyalty to the Anfield cause.
His appearances have been limited this season, however, with just 19 appearances in the Premier League.
Lucas wants to stay and Liverpool fans have now called for Klopp to offer him a contract extension, or even a move across to the coaching staff.
Here are a selection of their Tweets:
Take him to the next level, put him on the coaching staff, his loyalty and ability warrant that platform to management
