58-year-old would be a disaster: How odds shift changes Rangers manager chase
Frank de Boer 6/1
De Boer is an outsider to take over from Caixinha but provides arguably the most intriguing opportunity for Rangers.
The Dutch icon had incredible success at Ajax before stints with Inter Milan and Crystal Palace that both ended in dismissal a few months after taking over left serious question marks over his ability.
A return to Ibrox could give the former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers defender a chance to prove his ability with the possibility of European football – and a window to a bigger job on the continent – after two huge failures.
Appointing de Boer would likely mean a big outlay from the board which makes it seem a bit less likely although the 47-year-old has repeatedly refused to rule himself out.
Definitely a gamble if de Boer was given the chance to restore his reputation in Glasgow but has potential to have benefits for the club well beond the short-term.
