Djed Spence sends three-word message hours before Tottenham v Man United clash

Djed Spence has taken to social media to share a message just hours before Tottenham face Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May.

Spurs and Man United are battling each other for silverware in Bilbao, and for a spot in next season’s Champions League, despite their mutual struggles in the Premier League.

Both sides head into the Europa League final having lost each of their last two games, as Tottenham were beaten by Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, whereas Ruben Amorim’s men have endured back-to-back losses against West Ham and Chelsea.

But their European campaigns have painted an entirely different picture to their domestic form, as Ange Postecoglou’s men beat Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals, while United defeated Athletic Bilbao in the last four.

If Tottenham beat Man United, the North Londoners will clinch silverware for the first time since their League Cup triumph back in 2008.

Postecoglou could earn reprieve with Europa League final win

Just last season, his first in the Tottenham dugout, Postecoglou guided the North London club to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

But this campaign, the Australian has heaped pressure on himself by guiding Spurs to a woeful domestic campaign in which they appear set to finish fourth-bottom in the top flight.

Without Tottenham’s strong performances in Europe, Postecoglou would have likely already faced the sack, as he has steered his side to 21 defeats in the Premier League this term.

The North Londoners have now lost 25 games across all competitions, which is a 33-year low.

But if Postecoglou can steer Tottenham to victory against Man United and claim Europa League glory, he will etch himself into the Spurs history books.

However, beating Amorim’s side may be easier said than done for Postecoglou’s men, amid the injuries suffered by key players such as Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.
