‘Djordje Petrovic to make Chelsea return & go straight into team’ – fans impressed
Chelsea suffered more goalkeeping drama on Saturday (22 February) as they were defeated 2-1 by Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The fixture started perfectly for the Blues when Enzo Fernandez gave them the lead in the ninth minute of the game, but a second-half capitulation saw Unai Emery’s men take all three points.
Marco Asensio got off the mark at his new club with a brace, as Man United loanee Marcus Rashford provided both of the assists.
However, the 89th-minute match winner is something that most people felt was avoidable as the ball slipped under Filip Jorgensen’s body.
Match Stats | Jorgensen |
Saves | 4 |
Mistakes leading to goals | 1 |
Throws | 3 |
Recoveries | 4 |
Touches | 30 |
The latest Chelsea goalkeeping error cost the team any points as the Blues continue to have difficulty finding a goalkeeper capable of living up to Premier League demands.

Enzo Maresca’s side are on a dismal run
Chelsea are enduring their toughest run to date under Enzo Maresca at the moment, with the Blues having only won three times in their previous 12 matches across all competitions.
Maresca’s two first-team goalkeepers have played a role in that, with Jorgensen’s mistake being the latest example.
He had been brought into the team to replace Robert Sanchez after he had made five errors leading to goals this season, but Jorgensen has proven he’s not trustworthy in that role either.

Chelsea fans believe Djordje Petrovic is the answer
Chelsea fans are now calling for Djordje Petrovic to be brought back to the football club for next season to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Racing Club Strasbourg and is having an impressive individual campaign.
The Serbia international hasn’t made a single error leading to a goal this season, and he boasts more passes per game than any other goalkeeper across the top five European leagues.
