‘Does not get better than that’ – Newcastle fans react as ‘unreal’ footage emerges from Sunderland triumph

Newcastle United fans were in awe of the “unreal” scenes after Alexander Isak bagged the second goal against Sunderland on Saturday (6 January).

The Magpies finally returned to winning ways with a triumphant 3-0 win against their arch-rivals to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

An own goal from the Black Cats’ Dan Ballard just after the half-hour mark gave Eddie Howe’s side the lead, but a second-half brace from the big Swede confirmed the victory.

Before the showdown at the Stadium of Light, the Magpies had managed just one win from their last eight games in all competitions.

The win could prove a huge boost for the players and the fans who are frustrated after slipping to ninth in the Premier League table and crashing out of European competition.

The 6000-strong away support was part of incredible scenes after Isak slotted home the game’s second strike just moments after the second half began.

Miguel Almiron stole the ball from Pierre Ekwah in the Sunderland box and slotted it neatly to Isak, who placed his shot with his first touch past a helpless Anthony Patterson.

Isak immediately ran towards the fans and was quickly followed by his teammates whose passion was clear to see.

Supporters have taken to social media to react to the “amazing” celebrations on display in the Tyne-Wear derby.
