Dom Solanke and Kieran Trippier respond to Phil Foden’s message after Man City demolition job

Phil Foden was in high spirits after playing his part in extending Manchester City’s perfect start to their Club World Cup campaign.

Man City have made an impressive statement in the tournament so far, winning all three of their opening matches, with the latest coming in a dominant 5-2 victory over Juventus on 26 June.

Pep Guardiola’s side looked sharp throughout, with goals from Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Foden, and Erling Haaland, who hit his 300th career goal during the win.

Foden made an impact after coming off the Man City bench, adding his second goal of the tournament and continuing his fine form this summer.

After the full-time whistle, the England international shared a positive message with fans on social media following another convincing display.

Phil Foden reacts as Man City reach Club World Cup last 16

Foden shared his reaction to City’s dominant victory over Juventus on Instagram, posting: “A [top] night with the team.”

The post earned plenty of support from teammates, with Oscar Bobb — who continues to be linked with a potential Man City exit — commenting “Phil” alongside heart emojis, while fellow goal scorer Haaland also liked the message.

Other familiar names, including Kieran Trippier, Fikayo Tomori and Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, also showed appreciation for the post.

Foden has enjoyed an impressive Club World Cup campaign so far, silencing any criticism after what was considered an underwhelming Premier League season by his usual standards.

Next up, City will face Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, where they’ll come up against former player Joao Cancelo and midfielder Ruben Neves.

That last-16 clash will kick off in the early hours of 1 July, with Guardiola’s side aiming to continue their strong form and push for silverware.

Man City to make decision on James McAtee as interest grows

While Foden has forced his way back into Guardiola’s plans, another City midfielder faces an uncertain future, with James McAtee currently away with England at the Under-21 European Championship.

Tottenham have become the latest club to show interest in McAtee but face competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Football Insider reported that Nottingham Forest have sent scouts to monitor McAtee throughout the tournament as they weigh up a summer move.

With the midfielder not included in City’s Club World Cup squad and his future at the Etihad in doubt, a permanent exit this summer is looking increasingly likely.
