The Hoops have not announced the sum of money they paid for the 20-year-old, but reports in France claim that the Bhous have broken their transfer record and paid around £8.7million for the former PSG hitman.
Edouard scored 11 goals for the Bhoys last season, including three against bitter rivals Rangers, and he has become a firm favourite of the club’s support.
Football Insider verdict
What a day this is for Celtic fans, as the club seem to have smashed their record transfer fee to bring one of Europe’s hottest properties to the club. Edouard showed his qualities last season, particularly in his performances against Rangers, and the Hoops fans will be thrilled that he has agreed to join the Hoops for the next four years. The fact that the Hoops have possibly broken their transfer record shows that in a complete change from previous years, the Bhoys are planning to build on a position of strength going forward. Brendan Rodgers has transformed Celtic in the last two seasons, and this looks like the next step in the club’s logical conclusion going forward, which is to start to look towards Europe. This signing of Edouard shows that the Hoops are all about making progress in Europe, and the Frenchman will be a key man for the Hoops as they aim to reach the Champions League group stages.
