Done deal: Defender signs after Rangers agree terms

By Danny Wright

Rangers have confirmed that defender Kyle Bradley has signed for Clyde on a loan deal after agreeing terms to his departure.

The announcement was made on the Light Blues Academy’s official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, which said that the 18-year-old had moved to the Scottish League Two outfit on a short-term “development loan until January 2018”.

Bradley will be hooking up with a side that almost finished bottom of the SPFL pyramid last term, as the Bully Wee narrowly escaped a relegation play-off by three points.

The emerging Ibrox talent earned his first senior appearance under Pedro Caixinha at the end of last season when he featured for five minutes of the 2-1 away win at St. Johnstone.

He also helped the Light Blues’ development side reach the second round of the Challenge Cup last term as he featured in all 90 minutes of a 4-0 mauling of Stirling while playing at centre-back.

There’s perhaps little chance that Bradley would be able to break into Caixinha’s plans for the current season, which kicked off last week in the Europa League.

Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso are expected to hold places in the Gers starting line-up provided they stay fit while Danny Wilson, Rob Kiernan and David Bates are also in reserve.

Football Insider Verdict

Bradley is still very young and has a long way to go before his potential can be realised, so a loan move to Clyde should only provide good results. Although the Cumbernauld-based club are expected to battle relegation next season, Bradley will certainly benefit from prolonged exposure to first-team football, no matter the circumstances of it. Caixinha still has some way to go to clean up the amount of depth he has at centre-back. Wilson and Bates could definitely do a job in back-up to Alves and Cardoso, meaning that the Portuguese boss should really look to offload Kiernan before the transfer window slams shut.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have tabled a seven-figure bid for this playmaker as Caxinha looks to secure his ninth summer recruit.
