Done deal: Rangers wrap up centre-back agreement
Rangers centre-back Harris O’Connor has agreed terms to his first professional contract at Ibrox, it has been confirmed.
The Light Blues announced on their official youth academy Twitter account that the 15-year-old’s professional deal has been wrapped up alongside Ciaran Dickson in what has been a good weed for the Gers’ development staff.
U16 players Ciaran Dickson and Harris O'Connor signing their first pro contracts with the club; Ewen Deveney and Kyle McLelland doing well on international duty with Northern Ireland 17's; 9's, 10's, 11's and 12's all playing cross border challenging competition. #progression

O’Connor has been a mainstay of the Rangers Under-16s side and has also been called up to the Scotland Under-16s squad in the past alongside fellow Gers Kyle McClelland and Kai Kennedy.
Rangers have started to produce more talent from their youth ranks in the past couple of seasons with former Under-20s manager Graeme Murty not shying away from handing major first-team roles to the likes of Ross McCrore.
O’Connor will surely be hoping that he can follow in McCrorie’s footsteps in the future and break into the senior squad.

O’Connor still has a lot of work to do before he makes it into Rangers’ first-team, but he must surely hope that Murty continues to work at Ibrox after his spell as first-team manager ends because he has done a great job with the youth set-up at Ibrox. O’Connor clearly has talent having been called up to the Scotland Under-16s squad so he is definitely worth keeping an eye on over the next few years. McCrorie’s rise to the top can only be beneficial to other young defenders.
In other Rangers news, this European manager has been made favourite to be named as the next Light Blues manager.
