Done deal: West Ham complete transfer as Premier League ace signs

By Matt Bullin

Manchester City ace Joe Hart has signed for West Ham on a season-long loan, it has been confirmed.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper will link up with Hammers manager Slaven Bilic’s squad immediately.

West Ham announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Tuesday evening.

The confirmation comes after The Sun reported that Hart was set to sign for the Hammers on loan, and that he would earn a weekly wage of £175,000-a-week, £55,000 of which would be paid by his parent club City.

The 30-year-old becomes Bilic’s second signing of the summer as he follows former City team mate Pablo Zabaleta through the doors at the London Stadium.

Hart spent last season on loan in Italy at Torino after he failed to impress Citizens manager Pep Guardiola with his efforts for England at the 2016 European Championships.

However, the 30-year-old is still a goalkeeper of considerable pedigree having played 348 league and cup games for City, as well as winning 71 caps for England.

Football Insider verdict

This move represents a good one for both City and the Hammers – Hart will get the chance to impress in the Premier League and potentially force his way back into Guardiola’s plans. Meanwhile, West Ham will have the services of a 71-time international for a season, as well as a shot-stopper who has won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award four times. Bilic is looking to strengthen his squad significantly this summer and he has started well with the additions of Zabaleta and Hart. Hammers fans should be pleased, although they will be looking for more quality additions in the next six weeks.
