'This shuts a few peoples mouths' - Tottenham fans react to Kyle Walker Twitter message

By Amir Mir

Kyle Walker posted an emotional Twitter message about White Hart Lane – and Tottenham fans have reacted by urging him to stay at the club.

The 26-year-old uploaded a video where he is talking about the highs and lows of the Lane and going unbeaten on home soil throughout the season.

Walker came off the bench during their final match at the Lane, with Mauricio Pochettinio’s side securing a 2-1 win against Manchester United at the weekend.

Tottenham fans went berserk with messages, with the majority of them calling for him to stay in north London as speculation mounts about his future.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet suspended betting on the right-back moving to Manchester City in the summer, as quoted by a fan account City watch.

Added to that, his manager Mauricio Pochettino has denied not starting Walker for the “big games” towards the back end of this campaign which will conclude on Sunday.

He was selected to start from the bench during the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea and most surprisingly the 2-0 win against Arsenal in April.

During his time at the club and working under Pochettino, Walker has always started north London derbies.

All of that has added further fuel to the fire that Walker could be heading for the exit door in the summer and moving to the Etihad Stadium.

Therefore, it was no surprise that fans want him to stay as they feel the club is currently building as they go from strength to strength.

One fan reminded Walker that he has been part of the club’s recent rise from the start as he thinks Tottenham are building something special.

Another told him “don’t bail on us” as Spurs prepare to move into their new stadium for the 2018/19 campaign.

Before the stadium is completed, they will temporarily move into the home of football, Wembley for one season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
