‘Don’t blame him for kicking off’, ‘This is madness’ – Leeds fans rage at Daniel Farke after Djed Spence axe

Leeds United fans on social media have turned on manager Daniel Farke after he decided to cut Djed Spence’s loan deal short due to attitude problems.

The Yorkshire club announced on Thursday (4 January) that Spence has returned to Tottenham just five months after he joined on loan.

The deal agreed between both clubs was a season-long loan, but Leeds have cut his stay at Elland Road short with Farke questioning the player’s ‘professionalism’ and ‘discipline’.

“We have expectations and these expectations are in several topics important,” Farke said to media on Friday.

“Obviously it’s important, the potential and the quality of the player but also it’s professionalism, it’s discipline, it’s workload on and off the pitch.”

Spence played only 390 minutes of football for Leeds during his time at Elland Road, with Farke handing him seven appearances.

The 23-year-old was deployed at both left-back and right-back by the German manager but was often picked behind academy graduate Archie Gray.

Spence’s attitude has been previously questioned by Neil Warnock during his time at Middlesbrough with the 75-year-old manager suggesting that the right-back needs to focus on his ‘application’ and ‘dedication’.

Leeds supporters on social media were unhappy with Farke’s decision to send Spence back to Tottenham despite problems with his attitude.

Leeds are set to face Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday before returning to Championship action on Saturday (13 January) with a trip to Cardiff City.
