Dorgu reacts to ‘always welcome’ exit announcement from Man United

Man United have sent a goodbye message to one of their departing players, with Patrick Dorgu among those to react.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of a reset this summer, following a season in which they finished 15th in the Premier League, and failed to win any silverware or qualify for Europe.

Dorgu only joined Man United from Lecce back in the January transfer window, signing a contract at Old Trafford until the end of the 2029/30 season.

Other longer serving figures though are now seeing their time with the club come to an end as the club move them on as part of the process of strengthening their squad.

Among those leaving is Christian Eriksen as he sees his contract with Man United come to an end, with no new deal being handed to the 33-year-old.

Man United send farewell post to midfielder

Having made the move to Old Trafford back in the summer of 2022, the midfielder made 107 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring eight goals.

He also helped Man United to win the League Cup in 2023, and FA Cup in 2024, prompting the club to pay tribute before his contract officially comes to an end later this month.

Taking to their official Instagram account to send a message of thanks to Eriksen, the club wrote: “A great Dane. You’ll always be welcome at United, Christian.”

Reacting to that, Dorgu – who like the departing midfielder is a Denmark international – showed hs support for the 33-year-old by liking the post.

Christian Eriksen exit is the right move

Football Insider Verdict

Over the years, there can be no denying that Eriksen has proven himself to be a player who possesses a great deal of talent and ability.

However, he is now approaching the veteran stages of his career, and his influence for Man United has started to wane in more recent times.

The Red Devils clearly need to move on a number of players as they look to recover from what has been such a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, allowing others to arrive.

In the circumstances, that does therefore mean that allowing the 33-year-old to leave Old Trafford makes a lot of sense for Ruben Amorim‘s side.

Regardless of that, Eriksen can still rightly be proud of what he has achieved and overcome during his time with Man United and career as a whole.

Of course, his playing days may not be over just yet, as Football Insider understands Rangers have set their sights on signing Eriksen, in what would be an eye-catching move ahead of next season.
