Doucoure and Pickford react to Idrissa Gueye’s emotional message to Everton fans
Idrissa Gueye’s contract at Everton runs out at the end of this month, and his emotional message to supporters has sparked a strong reaction from teammates.
Everton are preparing for a pivotal summer, with the Friedkin Group aiming to make an immediate impact in their first transfer window since taking charge, alongside the club’s highly anticipated move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
However, several first-team players are not expected to be part of this next chapter.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has already confirmed he will leave Everton, joining Ashley Young and Joao Virginia among those heading for the exit.
Despite this, Everton remain eager to extend Gueye’s stay but his future remains unresolved as negotiations continue behind the scenes.
Now, the midfielder has shared a heartfelt message with fans after being recognised for his performances this season, adding further uncertainty around whether he’ll remain part of the club’s rebuild.

Idrissa Gueye sends emotional message after winning Everton Player of the Year
Gueye was named both the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season for his standout performances across the campaign.
The 35-year-old shared an emotional message with Everton fans via Instagram, where he said:
“Praise be to God. Thank you.
“Being named Player of the Season by my teammates and the fans means a lot to me.
I would like to thank you all Evertonians for voting for me. Everton has always been more than a club, it’s home. From my first spell to my return, this badge has been part of my journey, my battles, my pride.
“Together, we’ve faced tough times, fought hard, and stood as one. This award reflects not just my efforts, but our shared fight. This connection will always run deep.
“Once a blue, always a blue.”
The heartfelt post drew appreciation from a number of teammates, with Jordan Pickford, Doucoure, and former Everton forward Richarlison all liking the message.
Gueye has been vital for Everton this season, making 40 appearances and missing just one Premier League match. He also registered three assists, reinforcing his importance in David Moyes’ side.

Everton face major hurdle in Matt O’Riley pursuit
With Gueye’s contract set to expire at the end of June, Everton are exploring midfield reinforcements, and Matt O’Riley has emerged as a target.
However, Football Insider report that Brighton are demanding the full £25 million for O’Riley, should Everton make a formal approach.
Moyes is an admirer of the Danish international, who has struggled for regular starts this season behind the likes of Yasin Ayari, Diego Gomez, Brajan Gruda and Jack Hinshelwood.
The 24-year-old, capable of playing both centrally and in an advanced midfield role, could represent a significant signing as Everton prepare for a summer rebuild.
