Rangers fans have savaged frozen out defender Fabio Cardoso after he posted a message on Twitter following his omission from the side to face Motherwell on Saturday.

The 23-year-old fringe player has barely featured under Graeme Murty after being a mainstay in the side during Pedro Caixinha’s time in charge and looks like he is on his way out of Ibrox.

“Work in silence and let your work make noise,” Cardoso said on his personal Twitter account after the defender had tweeted similar messages after missing out of games throughout the season.

Gers fans were having none of it though – with one fan saying Cardoso isn’t a defender but applauding his effort.

Cardoso has made 18 appearances for the Gers since his £1.3million move from Vitoria Setubal in the summer but has only managed four of those since Murty took over in October.

After signing a three-year deal at Ibrox, Cardoso could find himself frozen out for a while if the Gers can’t move him on in the summer after falling completely off the radar.

With Ross McCrorie, Bruno Alves, Russell Martin and the injured David Bates all ahead of him in the pecking order for a starting place, regular football is going to difficult to come by at Ibrox any time soon for Cardoso.

In other Rangers news, an outspoken BBC pundit has slammed this Gers player after the draw with Motherwell, claiming he was “unbelievably bad”.
