Tony Cascarino has revealed that he can’t believe how bad Everton have been in the Europa League this season and labelled their campaign “dreadful”.
Cascarino was a guest on Jim White’s talkSPORT show (Thursday 12:55) and gave his opinion on the Toffee’s European outings this season.
He said: “I just couldn’t believe they could lose so many games and be so bad in the Premier League and then take that form and be worse in the Europa League, cause that’s what they’ve been, dreadful.”
Everton are bottom of their Europa League group, having won no games, drawn one and lost three; their results mean that they have been ruled out of reaching the knockout stages with two games to spare.
The Toffees along with only having one point, have only managed to score three goals and have suffered heavy defeats to record a -7 goal difference, the second worst in the tournament.
Everton play Atalanta on Thursday night, with the Toffees’ last European outing this season being on December 7 against Apollon.
Eveton have not just suffered in Europe – they’re also sitting in 16th in the Premier League with only 12 points from 12 games.
The poor start across the two competitions saw Ronald Koeman sacked on October 23, with David Unsworth put in temporary control.
Unsworth has only won one of his five matches, as the Toffees continue to search for Koeman’s successor.
