Dwight Gayle: Newcastle must take these two things into the Premier League
By Aramide Oladipo
Newcastle United goal machine Dwight Gayle believes that his side have to carry their “attitude and togetherness” into the Premier League next season.
The 27-year-old was one of the main reasons for the Magpies’ automatic promotion this season, scoring 23 goals in the Championship.
Gayle found himself on the scoresheet in the final day of the season in the 3-0 victory over Barnsley at St James’ Park, a result which meant Newcastle were crowned champions of the division.
Speaking with the Evening Chronicle, Gayle admitted that the Premier League offers a new challenge for the club, but he believes they will be able to cope with everything as long as they show the same level of commitment.
“We’ve dealt with the pressure this season, now we have to do it again in the Premier League,” Gayle said.

“Whenever Newcastle fans were going to an away ground, the home team was always up for it.
“We had to overcome that, and it just shows how good a team we’ve had that we were able to do it.
“It shows how switched on we’ve been to be up against it, and still come out with the Championship.
He concluded: “We have to carry that attitude and togetherness into the Premier League.”
Gayle already has experience of playing in the English top flight as he spent three years at Crystal Palace and he managed to score 15 goals in 64 Premier League appearances.
The striker will always be remembered for his performance at the end of the 2013/14 Premier League season where he scored a brace against Liverpool in a 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park which ended the Merseyside club’s title ambitions.
In other Newcastle news, the club have reportedly tabled an offer for this Premier League midfielder after a dazzling season.
