Dwight McNeil reacts to five-word Alex Iwobi message after Fulham defeat
Alex Iwobi sent a message directly to the Fulham fans after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Monday (14 April).
Fulham’s push for the European places took a hit from one of their fellow chasers as Antoine Semenyo’s first-minute goal proved enough to secure a victory for Bournemouth and see them leapfrog Fulham.
The Cherries move above Fulham to eighth in the Premier League table on goal difference, leaving Marco Silva’s side sandwiched between Bournemouth and Brighton with 18 points left to play for this season.
Semenyo’s strike inside 57 seconds gave the Cottagers nearly a full 90 minutes to find a response, but after they were unable to despite having seven shots on target, Iwobi took to social media.

Fulham message clear as Alex Iwobi reacts to Bournemouth loss
Fulham remain firmly in the hunt alongside multiple other clubs for a European place this season, with the Premier League in line to have up to 11 of its teams playing in continental competitions next term.
Bournemouth | Statistic | Fulham |
1 | Goals | 0 |
1.46 | xG | 1.07 |
3 / 12 | Shots on Target | 7 / 12 |
41% | Possession | 59% |
6 | Corners | 9 |
However, after failing to capitalise on their impressive win over Liverpool at Craven Cottage last time out, Fulham are now six points behind seventh-placed Aston Villa, and Iwobi had a message for their fans.
Posting on his Instagram account at full-time with a collection of images, which were liked by his former Everton team-mate Dwight McNeil, Iwobi said: “Head up and go again.”
Fulham fans will be confident that Iwobi and his Cottagers teammates can bounce back against Chelsea on Saturday after already picking up some scalps this season.
Fulham ready for final push ahead of crucial summer
Iwobi may have failed to sparkle at the Vitality Stadium as Fulham fell to a third straight away defeat in the league, but his displays for Silva’s side this season have earned lofty comparisons.
The job Silva has done at Craven Cottage this term hasn’t gone unnoticed, and former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Daniel Levy sees him as Ange Postecoglou’s successor at Tottenham.
Furthermore, after Football Insider revealed Fulham are set to miss out on Greek duo Fotis Ioannidis and Georgios Vagiannidis this summer, Iwobi and his teammates will know that securing a European spot is crucial both for keeping hold of Silva and securing their top targets.
