Early Aston Villa team news: Bruce confirms attacking duo will miss Burton clash
By Amir Mir
Steve Bruce has confirmed that Aston Villa duo Gabby Agbonlahor and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy will miss the Burton Albion clash on Saturday afternoon.
The attacking duo have been on the sidelines in recent months but Bruce believes the weekend game has come too early for them.
Academy product Hepburn-Murphy has hardly been used during this Championship campaign, but since the youngster signed a new deal, Bruce did vow to give him more game time.
By contrast, Agbonlahor was brought back from the cold by Bruce when he replaced Roberto Di Matteo in the dugout in mid-October.
Ahead of the away trip to Burton on Saturday afternoon, Bruce delivered some early team news to the club’s supporters.

“Yes [the game on Saturday has come too soon for Agbonlahor and Hepburn-Murphy]. There will be a game on Monday in which Rushian will play in,” Bruce told his Friday press conference as posted by the club’s official Facebook account.
“Gabby, I think we need another week or so, he’s had a hamstring injury so I am airing on caution there.”
Teenager Hepburn-Murphy has played only 12 minutes of football for the senior side with injury disrupting his progress to the first team in recent months.
On the other hand, Agbonlahor has played 11 matches since his return, providing one assist as he is yet to get off the mark with a goal.
Agbonlahor last featured for the Midlands outfit during their 2-2 home draw against Preston North End in January where he provided an assist for the opening goal of the game.
Bruce’s side recorded a 1-0 win against QPR on Tuesday night, their eighth win from their last nine league matches as they aim for an unlikely play-off push.
