Early team news: Moyes confirms West Ham star will 'definitely' start v Arsenal

West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that Joe Hart will start in goal for the Hammers for the League Cup quarter-final against Arsenal tomorrow evening.

The 30-year-old, who is on loan from Manchester City, has been criticised for his poor form this season and has not played for the Hammers since the 4-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park in late November.

Adrian, the team’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, made his first league appearance of the season in the 2-1 defeat to City two weeks ago, with Hart unable to play against his parent club.

The Spaniard made a number of impressive saves at the Etihad Stadium and did enough to keep his place in the side for the home game against Chelsea the following week.

The fan favourite has now started West Ham’s three games, keeping three clean sheets and making a number of smart stops. However, Moyes confirmed at his press conference on Tuesday that Hart would return to his starting XI for the quarter-final.

“Joe Hart will definitely start tomorrow night. He’s been very good around the place and he’s ready to play.” said Moyes, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

Moyes also said that striker Andy Carroll could return to the Hammers side tomorrow. The 28-year-old has not played for the club since the 1-1 draw with Leicester.

“Andy Carroll could return. He’s had a bad back but he trained today and we will make a call on him tomorrow,” said the West Ham boss.

In other West Ham news, Hammers fans have reacted to the news that Maneul Lanzini has been charged by the FA for diving against Stoke.
