Eddie Howe ‘has to be sacked’ after ‘disastrous’ Bruno Guimaraes injury news

Newcastle United received a huge blow on Friday as it was confirmed that Bruno Guimaraes would be out for eight to 10 weeks.

The midfielder was forced off in the 2-1 victory against Tottenham just days after returning to the starting XI due to an ankle injury.

Now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed via X that the 28-year-old is going to miss a significant chunk of the remainder of the campaign due to a serious muscle injury.

As a result, many of the St James’ Park faithful are furious and have been quick to blame Eddie Howe for failing to prevent the incident.

Newcastle fans blame Eddie Howe for Bruno Guimaraes’ injury

Howe’s backing from the Newcastle fanbase has taken a big hit this season.

The Magpies have been far too inconsistent, which has seen them fall to 10th in the Premier League table.

As a result, qualifying for the Champions League is now highly unrealistic, and there is even a decent chance that they do not reach a European competition at all.

Now, with Guimaraes ruled out for the foreseeable future, many believe that the season is simply over, with the Magpies unable to survive without a player of his quality.

Others have simply directed the blame to Howe, insisting that Newcastle should not have left him on the pitch for as long as they did.

How many games will Guimaraes miss for Newcastle?

With Guimaraes being out for possibly 10 weeks, there is a good chance that he won’t return to action until late April.

This will see him miss the vast majority of matches this campaign, including their Champions League playoff matches against Qarabag later this month.

As a result, Guimaraes will miss at least 10 matches, and could make his return for Newcastle’s trip to the Emirates on 25 April.

However, if the Magpies progress further in the FA Cup and the Champions League, then the 28-year-old will miss even more matches.

With Howe already under massive pressure, this is no doubt a massive loss for the Englishman, with Guimaraes easily one of their best players.

Only time will tell if Newcastle are able to survive the next couple of months without him, or if it will prove to be Howe’s downfall at St James’ Park.
