Eddie Howe ‘would love to manage England’ after Newcastle bust-up – O’Rourke

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe would “love the opportunity” to manage England at some stage, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke highlighted that the 46-year-old has never hidden his desire to be in charge of England at some stage.

It is believed that the Newcastle boss will always be linked with the role due to the success he’s had throughout his career.

Some England fans see Howe as a very popular choice to be Gareth Southgate’s successor, which would mean he has to leave St. James’ Park.

However, Lee Carsley has done well as the interim manager and won both of his games in charge during the last international break.

Carsley is expected to remain in the role throughout autumn for the October and November internationals, giving him further opportunities to showcase his coaching skills.

Newcastle’s Eddie Howe is a strong contender for the England job

The FA could follow the same route they took when hiring Southgate this time around with Carsley.

Choosing someone who is already in the FA system on an interim basis to then giving them the full-time position worked with Southgate, and Carsley is currently repeating those steps.

However, it is believed that Howe will be linked with the England role wherever he’s at in his career.

Howe has been involved in a boardroom bust-up recently at Newcastle as his relationship with sporting director Paul Mitchell has become strained.

Football Insider revealed that Howe is set to be frozen out at Newcastle, and his transfer input is going to be significantly reduced moving forward.
