Arsenal are continuing talks with Marseille over a potential transfer for Eddie Nketiah, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the striker is open to a move this summer.
The French outfit are interested in the 25-year-old, but Arsenal’s price tag for him is a sticking point.
The Gunners want £30million for the homegrown star, which is a significant fee for Marseille to try and meet.
Nketiah has fallen down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium and knows that game time will be limited under Mikel Arteta next season.
The chance to make a move and create a fresh challenge is appealing to him this summer, especially if Arsenal brings in another forward.
Arsenal could receive more interest in Eddie Nketiah if the price is lowered
Arsenal could consider lowering the price tag they have set for Nketiah as the window goes on if they wish to sell him.
Moving Nketiah on would present pure profit from a PSR standpoint, which would be beneficial for the Gunners.
Lowering their valuation would also increase the interest in Nketiah from teams in the Premier League, according to sources.
Marseille have been raiding the Premier League so far this summer since Robert De Zerbi took charge of the club.
Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have already joined the Ligue 1 side in this window and bolstered the squad depth ahead of the new campaign.
