Eddie Nketiah sends one-word message to Tyrick Mitchell after Crystal Palace bail-out

Crystal Palace’s entire squad played their part as Oliver Glasner’s side made history to win the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Eagles soared at Wembley to defeat Manchester City 1-0 and lift the first piece of major silverware in Palace‘s entire history, as Eberechi Eze‘s volley in the 16th minute proved to be the difference-maker.

Eze scored with his side’s very first attempt on goal after their maiden venture into the final third, and the midfielder’s post-match message implied that FA Cup success may be just the start for this Palace team.

Glasner‘s side were made to work for their slender victory after Eze’s early winner, and Dean Henderson proved to be their hero at the other end as he kept out Omar Marmoush’s penalty with one of six saves.

That penalty was conceded after Tyrick Mitchell‘s lunge on Bernardo Silva got more of the man than the ball, but the Palace left-back was bailed out by his goalkeeper as they clung on for the win at Wembley.

Mitchell and Nketiah messages sum up Crystal Palace unity

Mitchell’s performances in recent seasons have drawn plenty of plaudits and interest from Arsenal in the previous winter transfer window, but the twice-capped England star has never pushed to leave Palace.

Nketiah made that exact move in the opposite direction last summer to leave Arsenal for Palace in a £30million Deadline Day switch, and came off the bench for Jean-Philippe Mateta in Saturday’s decider.

After Mitchell shared an Instagram post (18 May) in the aftermath of Palace’s celebrations with the caption; “PRAISE GOD”, Nketiah shared a message of his own on his story, calling Mitchell; “Bro”.

Crystal Palace to pursue Mitchell, Nketiah upgrades?

For the first time in their entire history, Palace will participate in Europe next season, and Glasner will be keen to add reinforcements to his squad this summer as the Eagles prepare to battle on multiple fronts.

Chelsea loanee Ben Chilwell hasn’t been able to displace Mitchell at left-back since his arrival in January, and Glasner may want someone who can if Chilwell’s spell at Selhurst Park doesn’t become permanent.

European qualification will give Palace hope that they can ward off the likes of Tottenham to keep star man Eze this summer, but a new striker transfer could also be on the cards which would drop Nketiah further behind Mateta in the pecking order.
