‘Ederson transfer from Man City a surprise’ after ‘big-money’ reveal
Galatasaray are still outsiders to sign Ederson from Manchester City this summer despite having the money to do so.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson cast doubt on the prospects of Ederson leaving Man City for the Turkish SuperLig this summer.
Ederson has been tipped to leave Man City with a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League mooted, but Galatasaray have emerged as another option for the Brazilian should he leave the Etihad this summer.
Galatasaray won both the SuperLig and Turkish Cup last season with a 39-year-old Fernando Muslera between the sticks, and Robinson told Football Insider that they will look to recruit a new goalkeeper.
Man City’s campaign ended trophyless by comparison and saw Ederson share goalkeeping duties with Stefan Ortega, making 40 appearances to the German’s 22 for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions.
Robinson told Football Insider that while he doesn’t expect Ederson to swap the Etihad for Rams Park, Galatasaray have historically shown that they can spend big with Victor Osimhen’s imminent transfer a clear example of this.

‘Galatasaray to find a way’ to complete Ederson transfer
Robinson previously told Football Insider that he expects Man City to accept a “huge fee” for Ederson as interest from the Saudi Pro League grows, and even Galatasaray can’t match that level of financial might.
Speaking on the latest Inside Track, Robinson acknowledged that Galatasaray will look to upgrade on Muslera and Günay Güvenç this summer, but wasn’t sure if Ederson will make the move this summer.
“I’d be surprised if he went to Turkey, but then when you look at Galatasaray, they always seem to find wages and transfer fees from somewhere”, Robinson told Football Insider.
“Goalkeeper has been a problem for Galatasaray this year, they’ve chopped and changed.
“It’s position that Galatasaray are going to strengthen in this window, but I would be surprised if it was Ederson.”

Ederson decision looms as Man City prepare Diogo Costa move
Man City’s former financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Ederson wants to stay put at the Etihad Stadium this summer, but Guardiola would therefore run the risk of losing him for free in 2026.
Robinson has also argued that neither Ederson nor Ortega are still good enough to be Man City’s number one in the long-term, and Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has been a long-term option to replace the pair.
Costa has long since been seen as an ideal successor to Ederson and his move could be accelerated if he is sold this summer, and City will be in no mood to miss out on the Portugal’s by waiting on a decision from their number one.
