Edson Alvarez sends one-word message after West Ham transfer news
West Ham United’s squad looks set for a significant overhaul this summer and Edson Alvarez could be one player who moves on.
Graham Potter has a busy summer ahead of him in East London after a 14th-placed Premier League finish with West Ham, which saw the Irons climb up from 17th with two wins in their final three games.
After Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui spent over £130million on new signings last summer, West Ham will be more reserved 12 months on after only Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Max Kilman made a real impact.
As a result, player sales are also on the cards at the London Stadium with the likes of Mohammed Kudus likely to be shown the door, but he could be followed by another player who arrived from Ajax in 2023.

Alvarez makes Mexico return as West Ham exit looms
Both Kudus and Edson Alvarez were signed by David Moyes from Ajax for big money in 2023’s summer transfer window, but both players’ form has dropped off this term amid concerns over Alvarez’s conduct.
Football Insider revealed last June that West Ham had knocked back an offer from Manchester United to sign Alvarez, and his performances in the 12 months since haven’t been up to par for the Hammers.
A summer sale is on the cards once again for Alvarez after Monaco expressed interest in January, as Alvarez makes a return to the international setup with Mexico this month for the first time since October.
The 27-year-old posted on his Instagram story (3 June) from Mexico‘s camp, with a message including the “back” emoji to express his happiness as he prepares to captain El Tri in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

West Ham to sanction exits before incoming transfers
The £130m–plus outlay of last summer led to a season of apathy rather than one of excitement, and as a result it’s no surprise to see monied clubs like Newcastle on the brink of a big-money transfer for Kudus.
Football Insider revealed on 23 May that West Ham have so far failed with two attempts to sign England international Angel Gomes on a free transfer, and it may take more departures to open up a spot for him.
West Ham fans have been happy to see the back of Alvarez since the early days of the season, and as he aims to look forward rather than back, cashing in on the Mexican may be Potter’s best possible option.
