‘Embarrassing’ Man United stars ‘lazing about in training’ after Bruno Fernandes reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has hailed Bruno Fernandes after he was heard shouting at his Man United teammates during their “embarrassing” 6-2 defeat to Man City (2 October).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said there are “too many lazy people” in the United squad.

As reported by the Sun (4 October), the 28-year-old could be heard shouting at his teammates from outside the away dressing room at the Etihad when his side were 4-0 down.

Speaking after the game, the midfielder said his team’s attitude and belief was “not the best” in the first half of the 6-3 defeat.

McAvennie insisted United need more passionate players like Fernandes.

When you are getting beaten, it is embarrassing,” he told Football Insider.

Fernandes has been there, seen it, done it. Him screaming at players is a good thing.

[Cristiano] Ronaldo tried to talk to them when he came but he said nobody was interested. What a scathing thing to be called that. Fernandes shouting and balling, it is a good thing and they need more of it.

It doesn’t matter who the manager is, the best manager in the world could not turn that team in to winners.

Man United

There are too many lazy people, too many people not chasing the ball and not doing the basics. They lose the ball and they fling their hands up in the air, it is embarrassing. Players have got to be fighting for their place.

They must be lazing about in training. I think the team is all over the place.
